Open Cellars – of the Artisan Hills

Create your own Wine Trail!

Bigger than ever – there will be 16 participating wineries this year! For more information about each of the wineries go here.

The Artisan Hills is a beautiful region just on the outskirts of Melbourne, only 45 minutes from the CBD, heading North East towards Kinglake.  From Melbourne, drive to Eltham or Greensborough, then use the map (above) to create your own Wine Trail.

October is a spectacular time to visit the vineyards and wineries that are nestled among the rolling hills and hidden hamlets of this magnificent countryside. At this time of year, the hills are emerald green, there are spring lambs and calves on the surrounding farms, and the vines are growing rapidly now that the warmer weather has arrived. Come take a peek.

The winemakers of this region invite you to visit their small family-owned wineries, where the fruit is hand-picked and hand-crushed and the wines made on site. This is a chance to sample quality wines from the wine-makers of the western Yarra Valley. Come for lunch, wine tastings, to buy fine wines, and to enjoy live music and artworks from local artists at some venues. There are no entry or tasting fees at any of the venues.
